Summer Camps in Park Slope, Brooklyn

Park Slope is probably the most over-discussed neighborhood in Brooklyn, and yet somehow the camp situation here is genuinely excellent and still hard to navigate. You’ve got 22 programs within reach, Prospect Park as an actual backyard, and a parent community that has Opinions about everything, which means the word-of-mouth on camps here is unusually good if you know where to ask (PSP Facebook group, your kids’ school WhatsApp thread, the person next to you at the J.J. Byrne playground sprinklers).

The range is real. Park Slope has scrappy nonprofit outdoor programs running out of Prospect Park trails ($437/week), a Waldorf-inspired camp for 3-to-12-year-olds in a warm brownstone school, a free arts program at the Brooklyn Children’s Museum, robotics at Brooklyn Robot Foundry in Gowanus, and Oasis Day Camp (one of the city’s most established multi-activity programs) right in the neighborhood. If your kid has a specific thing they’re into, there’s probably a camp for it. If they have no idea what they’re into, there are solid general programs that cover all the bases.

A few things specific to Park Slope camp logistics: several of the programs in this list are technically in adjacent neighborhoods (Gowanus, Prospect Heights, Prospect Lefferts Gardens) but within easy reach. And Prospect Park itself functions as a second campus for a handful of camps here, Trail Blazers, School of Wonder, and TOCA all use the park as their primary space.
